Preppy Target!

I have to give Target props lately. They have some cute, preppy items in stores right now. Get thee to Target and check it out! Here are some of my current favs....and, yes, I have purchased many of these items for the 2013 summer wardrobe. Can you blame me?

I love, love, love these pants! Really flattering and they come with a bright belt!

This $20 skirt could pass for the J. Crew version. Just sayin....

How cute is this seersucker dress?
Seahorses and a polka dot belt? Might as well be a bullseye...
You don't know me but I'm a pale lady so I don't rock a lot of summer shorts but I love these!
An adorable ikat summer scarf. Love!!

Pink gingham! Enough said.

Hope you all are having a great week!
Thankfully, it's almost over - TGIF!!!

Holiday Weekend in Review

So sorry for the lack of posts! Work has been busy and I've just returned from my weekend trip to Dallas. A quick recap...

I spent a lot of time with family. Here's a pic of my brother and I....

I spent a lot of money here.... 50% off all weekend! Who can resist that?

Among the items I purchased.... I'm in a navy and kelly green phase. Can you tell?

Ate way too much of this....

If you've never had Blue Bell, you haven't really had ice cream.
Sooo yummy! Sadly, not available in my neck of the woods.

And just generally had a relaxing and fun time.

Hope your weekend was as wonderful as mine was!

Friday Five

As this week comes to a close, here are five things I discovered this week that I'm loving!

1. Dabney Lee Inappropriate Greeting Cards

I don't know where to find these yet....but I will find them. I took a screen shot so you could get an idea of why I love them so. The tag line for these is - "We just say what you're thinking". Yes. Yes, you do.

2. Pret a Manger

I recently discovered this lunch time gem and I can tell you that my bank account has suffered because of it. $10 for a sandwich? Sounds reasonable to me! No, they're not all that expensive. My personal favs are the Falafel and Red Peppers Hot Wrap and the Banana and Honey Yogurt Pot. I've capitalized the names because they deserve it - they're that good. If there's one near you, check it out!

3. Aquaphor

Yes, a simple drugstore item is making my Friday Five list. Why? Because putting this product on my lips every night before bed has significantly improved how my lips look and feel. If I weren't me, I'd definitely want to make out with me because of Aquaphor. ; )

4. Baked Oatmeal Casserole

I found this recipe on Pinterest and it sounds just heavenly. Plus, anything I can make one time and then eat every morning for a week is a time saver for me and I love that! I'll give a review as soon as I make it.

Baked Oatmeal Casserole
Total Time: 50 minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients
2 cups gluten-free rolled oats
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnut pieces
1 cup raspberries {any berries work}
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
2 cups milk
1 large egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 ripe banana, peeled, 1/2-inch slices
Instructions
  • Preheat oven to 375°F and generously spray the inside of a 10-1/2 by 7 inch baking dish with cooking spray and place on a baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the oats, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, half the walnuts, half the strawberries and half the chocolate. (Save the other half of strawberries, walnuts and chocolate for the top of the oatmeal).
  • In another large bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, butter and vanilla extract.
  • Add the oat mixture to prepared baking dish. Arrange the remaining strawberries, walnuts and chocolate on top. Add the banana slices to the top then pour the milk mixture over everything. Gently shake the baking dish to help the milk mixture go throughout the oats.
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until the top is nicely golden brown and the milk mixture has set. For an extra tasty top, sprinkle a tablespoon or so of extra brown sugar.

5. Truckeroo!

For those outside of the DC area, Truckeroo is a festival where food trucks gather and sell their specialities to DC foodies. It's really a great time as it primarily involves eating, day drinking, live music, and occasionally cornhole. Does it get better? It's free admission, 11am to 11 pm, and it's going on today! Also, one of my favorite DC cover bands, White Ford Bronco, is playing and they're amazing! Try to guess which decade they cover... Anyway, get down to Truckeroo! I may* be meeting my friends there later...

*if the date I have at 7 doesn't work out.

What five things are you all loving today?
Happy Friday!

Daily Deals!

I'm so sorry I've been MIA lately. To say that work has been busy would be a huge understatement. That coupled with the fact that my home internet has been on the fritz has meant that my poor blog has suffered.

Hope you all are having a fab week! Spring seems to finally be in the air in D.C. (just in time for the start of summer) and I am ready for it! That being said, I feel like my need to shop increases as the temperature rises. I see girls throughout D.C. wearing cute spring and summer outfits and it just makes me want to buy more - more dresses, skirts, sandals, sunnies, all of it! Ahhhh!

Speaking of shopping, a big part of my daily routine revolves around my four favorite daily deal sites. I love a deal and these sites deliver! Among the items I have purchased are....scarves, a monogrammed clutch, luggage tags, baby gifts and (most importantly) jewelry, jewelry, jewelry! Check them out if you get a minute!

45 Washington Street ~ Dabney Lee

Are there celebrities or public figures who you ever think one (or both) of the following two statements about...

1. I wish I had her life.
(Kate Middleton, I'm looking in your direction)

or

2. I want to be friends with her.

The latter statement applies between myself and Dabney Lee. I'm certain she would be really flattered to know how highly I think of her and I'm sure once she reads this she and I will be on the road to BFF-dom.

Let me explain (in colorful, preppy, photographic detail) why I love her so.

How cute is she? She's an amazingly talented business woman and - get this - mother of triplets!!!

This was the first of her home products that I fell in love with -
the personalized recipe box. The perfect shower or hostess gift!

I bought this for a friend's birthday and she adored it! What's not to like?

I'm pretty loyal to my Lilly phone case but these are definitely tempting me...

How cute would this invitation be for a beach wedding?

This is one my my favorites! Love it for an engagement party,
save the date, bridal shower, etc.

An image from the Dabney Lee store at 45 Washington Street, Brooklyn.
I must make a point to visit the next time I'm in NYC!

If you're in the DC area and interested in ordering any of Dabney Lee's products, you can always find them here.

Happy Friday!
