Friday Five

As this week comes to a close, here are five things I discovered this week that I'm loving!

1. Dabney Lee Inappropriate Greeting Cards

I don't know where to find these yet....but I will find them. I took a screen shot so you could get an idea of why I love them so. The tag line for these is - "We just say what you're thinking". Yes. Yes, you do.

2. Pret a Manger

I recently discovered this lunch time gem and I can tell you that my bank account has suffered because of it. $10 for a sandwich? Sounds reasonable to me! No, they're not all that expensive. My personal favs are the Falafel and Red Peppers Hot Wrap and the Banana and Honey Yogurt Pot. I've capitalized the names because they deserve it - they're that good. If there's one near you, check it out!

3. Aquaphor

Yes, a simple drugstore item is making my Friday Five list. Why? Because putting this product on my lips every night before bed has significantly improved how my lips look and feel. If I weren't me, I'd definitely want to make out with me because of Aquaphor. ; )

4. Baked Oatmeal Casserole

I found this recipe on Pinterest and it sounds just heavenly. Plus, anything I can make one time and then eat every morning for a week is a time saver for me and I love that! I'll give a review as soon as I make it.

Baked Oatmeal Casserole
Total Time: 50 minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients
2 cups gluten-free rolled oats
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnut pieces
1 cup raspberries {any berries work}
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
2 cups milk
1 large egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 ripe banana, peeled, 1/2-inch slices
Instructions
  • Preheat oven to 375°F and generously spray the inside of a 10-1/2 by 7 inch baking dish with cooking spray and place on a baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the oats, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, half the walnuts, half the strawberries and half the chocolate. (Save the other half of strawberries, walnuts and chocolate for the top of the oatmeal).
  • In another large bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, butter and vanilla extract.
  • Add the oat mixture to prepared baking dish. Arrange the remaining strawberries, walnuts and chocolate on top. Add the banana slices to the top then pour the milk mixture over everything. Gently shake the baking dish to help the milk mixture go throughout the oats.
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until the top is nicely golden brown and the milk mixture has set. For an extra tasty top, sprinkle a tablespoon or so of extra brown sugar.

5. Truckeroo!

For those outside of the DC area, Truckeroo is a festival where food trucks gather and sell their specialities to DC foodies. It's really a great time as it primarily involves eating, day drinking, live music, and occasionally cornhole. Does it get better? It's free admission, 11am to 11 pm, and it's going on today! Also, one of my favorite DC cover bands, White Ford Bronco, is playing and they're amazing! Try to guess which decade they cover... Anyway, get down to Truckeroo! I may* be meeting my friends there later...

*if the date I have at 7 doesn't work out.

What five things are you all loving today?
Happy Friday!
